President Donald Trump has finally paid the $5 million he owes writer E. Jean Carroll after years of dodging a jury’s order.
Court records show that a $5,625,005.48 transfer to Carroll’s legal team took place the day before. The payout comes more than three years after a jury found that the president was liable for sexually abusing Carroll in a Manhattan department store in 1996, and then defaming her on social media.
Trump has repeatedly tried to appeal the judgment, but each time was unsuccessful. Last week, he launched a last-ditch attempt to block her from getting the money. It comes on the same day that Trump’s disgusting bedroom habits were laid bare.
Trump’s legal team filed a brief requesting that the disbursement of Carroll’s damages be halted, citing his pending Supreme Court petition to reconsider its refusal to hear his appeal. However, a federal judge ordered on Wednesday that Carroll be paid, prompting a swift appeal from Trump and a motion for an emergency administrative stay on the disbursement, which was denied.
In their opposition to Trump’s motion for a stay, Carroll’s lawyers said she had “waited more than three years” for the verdict to be paid. “She should not have to wait any longer,” they added.

During the trial, which Trump did not attend, Carroll revealed that she and the then-businessman had a chance encounter at the store, but the flirtatious banter had soon turned violent.
She first talked publicly about the attack in a 2019 memoir during Trump’s first term.
The president repeatedly insisted that he never knew Carroll, accusing her of lying to sell books at his expense.

In a Truth Social post earlier this month, Trump raged at the “injustice” of the Supreme Court’s decision.
“Surprisingly, the Supreme Court declined to ‘review’ a Fake Case brought against me by a woman I never met (Decades old celebrity photo line, standing with her husband, does not count!). I will continue the fight against this Weaponization and Lawfare Case against me, including the ridiculous claim of Defamation, with all of my power and strength,” Trump wrote.
He continued, “This Case is really against the United States of America, and all it stands for, and should never be allowed to happen to another President, or Candidate to be! New York State created a Law, for an instant speck of time, going back many decades, in order to wrongfully ‘nab’ me. It was tailormade, and this Injustice cannot be allowed to stand!”
