A document from the Southern District of New York Police announcing Jeffrey Epstein’s death has been going viral on social media, after it was included in the newly released Justice Department files. The reason is that it carries a date that appears to precede the moment Epstein was officially found dead inside his prison cell, prompting a whirlwind of speculation.

The federal statement was dated Friday, August 9, 2019, and clearly says that Epstein had been found unresponsive and pronounced dead by this date.

However, prison records as well as official accounts show Epstein was not found dead until the morning of August 10, 2019, when he was discovered by a corrections officer delivering breakfast to him. It comes as a new image from the Epstein files shows an almost naked woman on the floor while a sinister image hangs on the wall.

“Earlier this morning, the Manhattan Correctional Center confirmed that Jeffrey Epstein, who faced charges brought by this Office of engaging in the sex trafficking of minors, had been found unresponsive in his cell and pronounced dead shortly thereafter,” the statement from then-Manhattan U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman reads.

“Today’s events are disturbing, and we are deeply aware of their potential to present yet another hurdle to giving Epstein’s many victims their day in Court. To those brave young women who have already come forward and to the many others who have yet to do so, let me reiterate that we remain committed to standing for you, and our investigation of the conduct charged in the Indictment.”

The convicted sex offender had been held at the Manhattan jail since his arrest on July 6, 2019, after he was charged with sex trafficking minors and conspiracy. After pleading not guilty, he was awaiting trial but died while in custody just over a month later.

Official accounts show Epstein was found unresponsive a little after 6:30 am on August 10. After medics attempted to revive him, he was pronounced dead soon after, and his death was ruled a suicide by hanging.

There have been many controversies surrounding the disgraced financier’s passing; for instance, prison records show that the guards assigned to monitor him did not conduct required checks during the overnight hours prior to his being found dead. Official findings show that the scheduled rounds at 3 am and 5 am were missed.

Additionally, the cameras outside Epstein’s cell were not functioning properly that night, and it was later confirmed that at least two surveillance cameras had malfunctioned. This left gaps in the footage, preventing officials from establishing a reliable timeline of Epstein’s final moments.

No precise official time of death has been determined to this day because of it.

Other files released earlier this week show surveillance observations from inside the facility. Records show that investigators from the FBI and the Justice Department’s Office of Inspector General identified footage showing what looked like an unidentified figure moving toward the floor where Epstein was situated.

At around 10.40 pm, surveillance shows an orange object moving up the stairs to Epstein’s cell block at the New York prison before he was found dead.

Some of the world’s most powerful people have been found to have questionable ties with the late sex offender, after the US government released millions of new files from its investigation.
