Mark Ruffalo has again voiced his criticism of President Donald Trump as he joined the Tax the Rich campaign.
The Marvel star shared a social media post on Monday, February 23, where he urged Governor Kathy Hochul to tax billionaires and corporations to create a New York that is affordable for everyone. Mark, 58, took to Instagram to air his concerns with the actor being a voice for many political issues for quite some time now.
He shared a video discussing the issue alongside the caption, “@govkathyhochul must Tax The Rich for a New York we can afford. They can handle it, trust me.” He said in the video, “In New York, rent is crushing people. Childcare now costs over USD 20,000 a year on average. Trump’s policies keep making billionaires richer. Well, working families in dirt cuts to essential services.
“So last year, over a million New Yorkers came together to vote for Mayor Mamdani’s affordability agenda. So who’s getting in the way?”
The actor continued, “Governor Kathy Hochul has a choice to make. You protect working families, and tax the rich, or make Trump’s cuts worse by forcing everyday people to pay more. 60% of New Yorkers, like me, agree that we should tax billionaires and corporations to fund childcare, housing, and transit. Working people shouldn’t be the ones always stuck with the bill.”
He concluded his message by saying, “This Wednesday, February 25th, thousands of folks are going to Albany to send Kathy Hochul one clear message: Tax the Rich for New York that we can all afford. They can handle it. Trust me.”
Fans of The Hulk hero shared his post on social media as they commented to give their own opinion on his views. One wrote, “Mark is the best. It’s very clear he’s a principled, empathetic, and genuine man because he has stuck by his values and spoken out for years and years now. It definitely shows that celebs very much can (AND SHOULD) speak on these issues and take a stand. Mark is the standard IMO.”
A second said, “Honestly, this is how you gain support. When you are a public figure, speak up, don’t be silent. He is affluent and focuses on everyday people. An abundance of wealth makes zero sense to me. Once you can do anything and everything you dream of, why get upset that any future revenue is taxed?”
A third added, “I don’t know how anyone can hate Mark. Not only is he a fantastic actor (Dark Waters being one of my favorite films of his), but he goes out of his way to stand up for the little guy and uses his platform to speak out.”
A fourth shared, “He’s right. Trust me, a forensic accountant—if they’re still trying to hire me to protect themselves, they can handle it. (Also, they’re not offering nearly enough to stop me from going rogue, which is why they’re NOT hiring me. Keep trying mfers.) Eat the goddamn rich. They do not love the country that made them rich, or humanity at all.”
A fifth commented, “Ruffalo is a gent and a true badda–. Due to his speaking out, he’s already been blacklisted from working for pathetic fascist a– kissing Paramount. They terminated a multi year contract with him over his activism. Mark didn’t even flinch. He’s a f—— bada– and I love him for it!”
